Hi! I’m Marissa! I am a licensed NJ and NY Speech Language Pathologist. I attended Indiana University and earned a B.A in Speech and Hearing Sciences and a minor in Psychology in 2006. I continued my education at The College of New Jersey by pursuing a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a NJ Department of Education Certificate. I have extensive experience working with children and adults specifically with articulation, language development, and cognition. I mentor student teachers and provide supervision to speech assistants and new graduates in the field. I also have extensive training, interest, and experience with pediatric and geriatric feeding challenges as well as augmentative/alternative communication and assistive technology with the special needs population. I believe therapy should be functional and fun. I take the time to get to know each child and find creative ways to help them achieve success.
I most recently created mommy and me baby language sensory classes called Chatterbox. This class offers children under three a safe and nurturing place to follow, support, and facilitate your child’s developmental progress and growth. Each class incorporates new vocabulary, hand gestures and signs, sensory bins, DIY craft ideas, music, story time, and puppets to engage each child and promote developmental milestones. As a mom of two young children I can relate to the parent/child bond and needs of a child’s everyday life which I have incorporated with a Q&A at the end of each class.
